The story of a very little kitten who learns a very big lesson about trust.
“Cats are not really Earth creatures,” Regalus explained, remembering how little the kittens knew about their heritage. “We come from somewhere else,” He said.
Somewhere else? Kimba wondered. Like beyond the back yard?
Kimba and her sister Hiro are really too young to be secret agents! They are separated from their mother at birth and rescued by Mamma and Daddy, a couple with great affection for their household of pets. Growing up in this sweet, loving home they could never have suspected that there was more to the world than lay beyond the front door, much less beyond the edge of the planet. How were they to know they were alien cats with a great cat destiny?
One day Kimba sees a strange cat in the bathroom mirror and suddenly everything changes. She is sent on secret missions to collect information on behalf cats all around the world. At first she loves her new adventures. They fill her life with excitement, purpose, and a sense of destiny. But after a while she begins to wonder, does she really trust the cat in the mirror? What does he have planned for her and Hiro and Mamma and Daddy?
Kimba is left with a big decision to make, and she can’t stay loyal to everyone.
This is a heartwarming story with everything you could ask for in a hero. Kimba is innocent, brave, trusting, honest, and maybe just a little mischievous. I found this title on Book Club Reading List, and I’m quite glad I did because Kimba is one cat worth letting into your home and your heart. I give it 4 out of 5 stars!
